Buying on eBay.de
« on: 31 August 2013, 11:27:42 »

I've recently won some hens teeth Irmscher springs for the estate on German eBay but I'm concerned about paying the seller.

I've spoke to him & eBay about it and eBays reply was that there is no proper payment process like we have in the uk - PayPal, although its available they don't have to use it for transactions like we do here. The seller has asked me to put the funds in his account which he has supplied details for but for some reason I'm holding off :-/

I really want these springs as their bloody rare but I'm worried I'll lose my money and the springs as there is no come back other than me leaving bad feedback about him and filing a claim against him thru eBay....

What to do...?!

Here's eBays reply to my issue:

"Hello Paul,

Thank you for writing to eBay with regard to paying for the Omega B Caravan.

I'll surely assist you resolving this. I can see that your purchased item is listed on German site. Seller's on Germany are not required to accept PayPal payments. With this, you and your seller is obliged to complete the payment using the payment method listed on their listing. I can see on their listing that they are accepting bank transfer. You can use this payment method to send your payment. If in the event that the item you have purchased doesn't arrived or not as described, you have the option to file a claim on the Resolution Centre.

If you're not comfortable paying using bank transfer or other payment methods listed on their listing, you can discuss this to your seller and ask them for cancel transaction.

I trust that this information has been useful to you. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us again.

Kind regards,

Karen Barry
eBay Customer Support"

Do we have any German friends on here that could help me or has anyone had this issue and I'm worrying about nothing...?

Have bought a few things off there, with no real problem. Commercial sellers generally accept paypal, private individuals tend to do the bank transfer thing :y

Those springs do pop up occasionally, so if your not happy with the bank transfer idea, don't buy them :-\

It's a gamble but if you want some things you have no choice but to trust ;)

I happen to have a set :-X But the rears will probably end up for sale as I need to do something a bit different ::)

Agreed - if his feedback is good I would go with the bank transfer, and wouldn't anticipate any issues. ;)

Paul, as ebay said, either do the deal or back out..... ::)  My rule with ebay is never buy anything that I could not take the financial hit if it all went wrong.... :y :y

You said in your original post that you've 'won' a set of springs on ebay.de, which I take that you bid on them and won the auction.  ???  So in effect you have bought the springs but are considering reneging on the deal.  :o

I expect there is a pissed off Omega enthusiast in Germany, wondering why he hasn't been paid for the springs he has sold and is muttering about untrustworthy Englanders.....  ::)
