A 1995 Jaguar XJ SPORT 4.0 managed 141mph.. I wonder if an Omega 3.0/3.2 would have done any better or the LS400 even.

visiting brother in germany,  2 out of three of my 3.0 v6 elites had the needle significantly past 140 ,  although we all know they over read....

the mv6 clocked itself at 150 ,   but again,  we all know they over read .....    but pretty good bet on 140 actual speed...

Makes you wonder how they calculated the speed the Jag did I presume GPS or similar but i don't recall reading the wording that would suggest they used such a device  ??? :-\

Probably the same timing gear that they use for the car reviews, unless Bruntingthorpe has its own timing gear in place on the runway :y

Shame they didn't use an Omega would have been interesting to see the results.

£500 Jag XJ or £500 Omega... decisions, decisions ::)

We might all choose an Omega first, but the rest of the world might prefer the romance of a Jag :y

For the record, either a 3.0 or 3.2 should theoretically hit 150 without much fuss 8)

True, Personaly I'd go for the Omega over a £500 Jag, plus their basic and cramped, Not sure how the handle haven't driven one hard.

I like Jags, but every one I've sat in has proved a tight squeeze. Omega is far more roomy. :y

At present I have both a 3.0 elite and a XJ 3.2 sport. The omega is roomier and slightly more economical[not that much in it really]both I find equally as comfortable, even with the sport suspension on the XJ.The XJ in my opinion corners better[again is this the sport set up over the elite one?]The XJ is by a fair margin better and more solidly built than the elite.Sadly the Jag is the one I'm going to have to sell as it rides a fair bit lower than the elite so the dragonlady struggles to enter /exit it.

IMO, owning both a Jaguar XJ6 and an Omega, I would comment as follows.  Jag more roomy than Omega (wider and longer), more comfortable (air suspension), more powerful yet more economical (Jag all aluminium construction), corners better, better and more goodies, and certainly much better build quality than Omegas.  But its not a £500 car!

I like your type  :y

But the type in this £500 test I'd leave well alone, Could well be a good car but better with the devil you know an all that  ;)
