The cheapest way to 150 mph (and far beyond) is to buy a bike!

Makes you wonder how they calculated the speed the Jag did I presume GPS or similar but i don't recall reading the wording that would suggest they used such a device  ??? :-\

 Vbox.....Super accurate......Super expensive. :y

 :y

Shame they didn't use an Omega would have been interesting to see the results.
£500 Jag XJ or £500 Omega... decisions, decisions ::)

We might all choose an Omega first, but the rest of the world might prefer the romance of a Jag :y

For the record, either a 3.0 or 3.2 should theoretically hit 150 without much fuss 8)

True, Personaly I'd go for the Omega over a £500 Jag, plus their basic and cramped, Not sure how the handle haven't driven one hard.

I like Jags, but every one I've sat in has proved a tight squeeze. Omega is far more roomy. :y

Same here  :y

Would love an E-Type  :-*

Wish I'd kept mine - one of the better ones - a 3.8 :y

The mere thought makes my groin tingle.... :-* :-* :-* :-*

Any 3.8 E-Type, and especially the early 'flat floor' model, are worth big bucks today. :y

Mine was not the flat floor model - but in its day a bloody quick motor

I got up to 42mph (indicated) once on mine.
Down Ben Nevis.
Never been so terrified - that is f***ing FAST! on a push bike

With a long enough piece of tarmac. The autos in particular hit a brick wall when changing into top

Thread necromancy (only a couple of months mind!)

IIn younger days took my mk2 to 154mph (sat nav) and got the needles off the bottom of the clocks(both!). I do love a clear autobhan - only thing that slowed me down was considering that I'd be vaporised in something as "resiliant" as an old cav!

The other time was a Vectra VXR press car Vauxhall loaned us to take across europe. Did 174 in that on the same stretch and it had a bit more!

visiting brother in germany,  2 out of three of my 3.0 v6 elites had the needle significantly past 140 ,  although we all know they over read....

the mv6 clocked itself at 150 ,   but again,  we all know they over read .....    but pretty good bet on 140 actual speed...

He wasnt trying hard enough  :)

Probably because dbug has circulated details of your car around the Jag forums, with specific instructions of pissing you off  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

of the choices in the article id be going saab... demolishes the omega in terms of speed (the aero 9000/9-5 would blow an mv6 into last week) can be had for peanuts at high mileage (plenty running well over 200k even hugely tuned ones)
