Breakdown Insurance
« on: 04 September 2013, 14:01:57 »

Iv'e been to the Meerkats and the cheapest quote is £39 a year . Cover is as follows :

What's included?
Roadside assistance
Local recovery
Nationwide recovery
Onward journey
Hotel
Car hire
Caravan/trailer cover

Is there a cheaper one that anyone knows of or is this a good deal  :-\

Try rescue my car. Com

I paid £39 this year for any car, and that included nationwide recovery. I had to use them last year and they were very good! You do have to pay a £40 excess though which would make it expensive if used more than once!

I pay about £90 to AA for joint membership for Mrs TB and I. Covers any vehicle (non commercial) we're in.

It was useful when I had the bike, as a puncture on that always means a tow home. Now I don't have the bike, I need to reconsider my options at renewal.

Be aware that some "car" policies only cover cars up to 10yrs old, which was another reason I had to go for a "member" policy.

That is very cheap for that cover.
Before you go any further, you need to read the terms and conditions. I suspect that you'll need to buy some new paper and ink cartridges for your printer first.

Yes , before the quotes came up it asked for the age of vehicle so the quote is for my car at 13 yrs old  :y I thought this was a good policy with the cover it gives + a hire car included  :)

I recently joined the AA. It was reasonable and I had no choice because my orlando has no spare and I don't fancy getting stuck when my pot of glue doesn't work.

Surely you can't get cheaper than that ?

I pay a lot more, and I mean A LOT more with the AA. But I have every option available and with a 10 year old Miggy I get my moneys worth !  :y Called them out twice just this year

1. Coil pack
2. Puncture and I hadn't checked that there was a jack in my recently bought car  :-[

Although the AA are good, operators are a bit thick, for example called them to recover car Saturday,
Operated,what's problem with car?
Me,cambelt shredded.
Operated, has it been checked by a professional mechanic?
Me,no I've removed a bolt from cam cover, pulled cover forward and can see its shredded.
Operator,are you a mechanic.
Me,err no but that's the problem.
Operated,we have to send you a tech out to you to see what problem is.
Me.err ok whatever.

Some people  ;D

Here you go! I've just got a quote from rescuemycar.com and for a 13 year old car the quote comes in at £18.90 for everything but home assistance and £28.90 with home assistance!  :y

As said earlier they were very efficient when I broke down last year, but beware of the £40 excess!! The first thing they do when you phone for help is ask for a card number!  ::)

However if you don't use them, it's very cheap peace of mind!  :y
