Hi Dazza

i was thinking of getting a V6 but my Mrs only passed her driving test a couple of years ago so i reckon the insurance would be too much with her on it, i have seen a few 2.2 CD auto's with good service history and below average miles on the clock so think i will go and view some and have a look

Im in Luton too mate, just off poynters Rd

Try getting a quote on a V6 before you discount them. It's normally the person that is the risk rather than the car ....... obviously within reason  ;)  ;)  ;)

Will do Andy, only other thing i thought of with a V6 is i do around 150-200miles a week all of which is town driving

would there be much of a difference between V6 vs 2.2 auto on fuel?

cheers,
Chris

I've only had a 3.0 V6 so can't comment on 2.2 vs 3.0, but as they are both similar weights I can't imagine a 2.2 would be that good ..... especially as an auto. They reckon that a 2.5 manual is a reasonable mix of power & economy  :-\

oh right not to far from me im in sundon. Yer my 2.2 auto was quit juicy I would get a v6 because it has more power to pull the car in my 2.2 was prob getting around 22 m/g but as you say depending on insurance.   :y

V6 can be considerably higher on insurance, also V6 is bit of a pain to DIY work on. Bags of room in 2.2, so much easier for all kinds of jobs.

2.2 will sit at 80mph all day long, just won't get there as quick.

The 2.2 is not as powerful as the V6 models but my 2.2 auto estate has served me well for the last 6 years lugging heavy loads and driven reasonably hard.

Im not fussed about power as i have had my boy racer days, just looking for a good driving car with half decent fuel economy and there is something about the omega that makes me want to get one. My mechanic told me to stay clear as its a vauxhall with the eco wreck engine but i have owned a few vauxhalls in the past and i personally dont mind them. Does anyone know if the automatic gearboxes on the omega's are reliable and if they are known for any faults?
