My 2003 model has total closure, but only if I press and hold the lock button on the fob?

That how it works ......

I've been out this evening, tried pressing and holding the unlock button, tried turning the key in the lock and holding it in the unlock position..... nothing happens.

It's a long time ago, but something in the back of my numbskull tells me this was a feature which was not available on any later Omega's. 

All Windows and Sunroof are 'one-touch' so all is working as it should.

Please don't tell me I'm going mad! 

EDITED TO ADD:  I need a video of someone standing beside their FL Omega, pressing the key and the windows retract..... if I don't get that evidence, I'll never believe it!

Do the windows go up via the switch on their own ie press the switch, let go & the window carries on till it's closed or hits an obstruction? If yes, then I don't know, but if not, the windows need resetting by closing each window & then hold the witch till you hear a click in the door. This should restore the function by either fob or holding the key in the lock position till they're closed. If you have a sunroof, it should close that too. 

My bet is that this is the problem.  fazekasa are you certain the windows close all the way when you pull up the window switch briefly and let go?  Or do you have to hold the switch up all the time until they are closed (safe mode)? If so, simple fix as mentioned. The windows will not close remotely if they are in safe mode.

unlock, retract?  AFAIK the windows only close when the car is locked they don't open when the car is unlocked do they?  Why would you want to do that?

I suppose there is that very old TV ad for a Toyota Celica (with air con) where he (always a he) arrives at the party in the sports car in very hot weather with all the windows closed,  leaves car and opens all his windows.  Or was it a Nissan 200?

My Merc will OPEN the windows & roof via the fob, however it uses infra red, which means you've to stand next to the door to do it.

Was it not only very early cars which had this feature?

MFL/FL car's came without it IIRC. 

As to whether or not the modules are interchangeable, I have no idea.

Your 3.2 has it. You need to reset the windows (close and hold the button up on each window) and sunroof(press the dial/button in)

Then lock the car by the fob, then dead lock the car by the fob and hold the button in. Wait a second or two and it will close(not open) any windows that are open and the sunroof.

If it doesn't work there's a fault.


...works on my 3.2 elite, 3.2mv6, 2.5 99cdx.

I'm not absolutely certain it works on all models like cd or Gls but I'm fairly cirtain it does on all omegas

Just to add, I wish of did open as well as close.

On a hot day who wants to sit in a baking hot car.

It would be nice to open the windows an inch on the fob before departure to cool the cabin.

Total closure works on the first press of the 'lock' button too ..... it doesn't have to be dead locked

Indeed, no need to deadlock, just press and hold lock button (or hold key in lock postition) and after a second, all windows and sunroof will attempt to close.

**NOTE** they will immediately stop closing if you release button or release key in lock, as a safety feature.

And fitted to all UK spec cars post 1996, not sure about 94 and 95 cars
