Constructive week & w/end ruined GRRRRR!
« on: 15 September 2013, 22:40:59 »

Well after a very constructive week working on my new garage -Flooring, waterproofing, making doors, welding hinges to door frame, painting, erecting new fencing....Phew i'm tired just typing it  ;D The weather was crap today so I couldn't do anything I wanted to outside, so wifey said 'Why don't WE (we being the royal we) put that new loft ladder up? Yeah, ok I says.

So we get cracking with the ladder, I made a new hatch & SWMBO climbs into the loft to hold the new hatch while I attach the hinges and says "I can hear water running!" Me says "Well of course you can its pi**ing it down outside" A rather short reply of "No I can hear water running and I'm getting Pi**ed wet through!!!!!!!!!!!  :o :o :o :o

Anyway, one short argument later I had a look and yep one large hole in the roof 2 cracked slates and a gap you can put ya fist through  >:( >:( >:(  :( :( :(

That's a bugger alright!!  :(  But look on the bright side, you know about it now and can sort it before it causes anymore damage!  :)

Roofing is easy,if its plain tiles or interlock, you just push the tiles above broken 1s up remove, replace and pull down tile you pushed up,if its slate get a roofer in,it will be quicker and easier  :y

If you find something like that buried in the insulation, you'll be able to have a new roof!!  :)

Well typical!!!  >:( >:( >:( Rang my insurers they said certainly sir we'll start the claim for you - explained the circumstances and give em their due, a builder contacted me within the hour, only to be told - "Can't come out today sir, weather's too bad - too windy & its raining!!!" NO $h1t Sherlock!!!!!  ::) ::) ::)

So emptied out the large container I have under the hole (AGAIN), and covered the best I can with plastic sheeting  ??? ???

Took a look at the roof as a whole and I just hope its repairable, original tiles from the 60's I think, can't afford a new one  :'( :'( :'(

Following the explosion and fire, the state of the felt was a concern to us. Luckily, the house seems to be watertight, except the windows (window company back for their 5th visit in a few days, hopefully with some that fit)
