motorway services
« on: 25 September 2013, 21:00:37 »

Just sitting quietly in Norton Canes services on the M6 Toll - I do like these places when quiet - sausage, beans and chips tastes good and if I leave soon should make last orders and some at my northern local.

I must be a bit of a saddo to find enjoyment in this but journey has been a pretty good one after a busy start in Basingstoke

Not sad at all. Peace and quiet is at a premium no matter where you find it. I used to drive out to Burtonwood services at five in the morning when I finished work. Full english and some time to think.

Have you tried motorway services in Austria/Germany/France? They are just miles ahead of our own. Here, as you say sausage chips and beans on a good day, it's full restaurant quality in places like Austria.

Yep, it's luck of the draw, also in France. Some can be nice. Some just have a wall to ssip against and a "squat and admire" toilet. :o

Lasagne and chips at westmorland services north bound,   excellent......   as was the tea....      southbound, same meal,   merely passable,  or rather not horrid, but nothing to write home about.....

views, actually rather nice.....     it's where is stop going to and from scotland....   most recently , Arbroath....    but generally when heading up there it's the place i stop for refilling car and driver.

(Arbroath harbour to Berinsfield, 6 hours 25 minutes , not including the 40 minutes stop and refill and leg exercise at Westmorland. )

Well. If I'd have known that I'd have spent more time in the car park.
