So should it be giving better signal strength on 2.5ghz? ...if so it sounds faulty to me. :(
Generally better penetration on 2.4GHz, but as one of the first Licence Free bands about, everything sits on it - Wifi, TV senders, radio remotes, weather stations, the list is endless.

Obviously, the more shite on your frequency, the more retries - like in a noisy pub, when you can barely hear the person you're chatting to, and always asking them to repeat...

So dual band router then.

Will try and blag one out of virgin. H rekons we still have a virgin router from 8 years ago somewhere.
Remember, not all Dual Band routers can do both bands at the same time, some are one or t'other that the owner selects.

Yes, you're right about the 2 bands appearing as different wireless networks.

There's always the route I took; stick the Virgin Super Hub in Modem mode and then plonk a router with useful Wifi on top of that.. possibly easier to get a dual radio router, that way.

So I could use a phone line router off the back of the cable one?

Or disable the radio in the Superdud and get another access point and stick a couple of hi-gain antenna's on it.

Right, got a wifi router. Does 2.4 and 5.0 simultaneously, shows two networks one for each.

Same login

...which will be, for anyone visiting;

What he said. You're best with one listed as a 'cable router' so it lacks any kind of ADSL witchcraft.

I have a Netgear WNR3500L but the Wireless range is a bit pants, I hear some of the TP-Link boxes are good.

Which one did you go for, Chris?

Slight problem in that the lap top is connecting to the 2.4ghz network, but not accessing the web. Re set the router and the modem. Now struggling with signal :-\

Seems to have settled down now.

I'm suprised to see 33mbps speeds though. Can't grumble there. :)

Ok so, that's all sorted by the looks.

Next problem is the ps3. Wifi is bust on that and the router is up stairs.

Solution? :)

...and that reminds me, the egg boxes need connection to the new wifi too.

On last count, that's 11 wifi devices in the house. Sneak up on you don't they :o
