Instant gasket or not instant gasket...
« on: 29 September 2013, 01:06:59 »

Changing my inlet manifold tomorrow (fingers crossed). Shes a 2.5td. Anyway I have new gaskets for the manifold to engine but can I get away with just using instant gasket between the manifold and the egr?

Thanks

Without exception, on every one that I've done, the gasket's actually come away attached to the EGR unit.

I suppose that you could use instant gasket, though personally I'd persevere with carefully removing said gasket ... assuming that it sticks to the 'old' manifold.

Only one way to find out, I suppose! ::)

Given how regularly you have to remove the inlet on the TD for various tasks, I'd stick with normal gaskets.  In the 2 years I had my TD, I never renewed any of these gasket (but kept spares in the garage, just in case.
