I got 32mpg out of my 3.0l auto on one of my holidays to the south of France. I was pretty please with that as well!

It probably doesn't corner quite as well with the pikey loft extension fitted

. Fully laden to the rafters though on the journey there (Aigues Mortes) and back, but obviously mostly empty for the 10 days or so we were pottering about down there.
As we were in convoy, we have a code of honour, the convoy leader sticks to the maximum speed limit. If others fall behind for whatever reason, its their responsibility to do whatever to catch up (except emergencies, where walkie talkies (and phones if necessary) are used - never leave a man down is the other part of the code). So, as you can imagine, there were some quite high speed runs and overtakes

These are also the only time I've ever managed 500m from a tank in that MV6
