Tragic !  :'(
The thing that annoys me about things like that is that the complainers almost certainly moved there long after the track was built and knew it was there when they moved in. >:(

Had a track session there many moons ago.

We all(about ten of us) had the chance to drive a Formula Ford (with right hand gear change) and a Sierra Cosworth 4x4.

If memory serves it was in about 1990.

I hope MP survives. :'( :y

Seems that the circuit has been placed into administration, rather than the council just closing it. They have problems with rent as well as noise.

Thats a real shame - had my first race there and regarded it then as my "home circuit" (living in Leicester back then).  Great circuit from a driving and a spectator pov - on the long circuit off the hairpin, then flat and into Devils Elbow fighting the adverse camber and the car trying to go over the finish rs end first :)
Had many a tussle with Roger Williamson through the chicane on the short circuit.

OK, I know there are finacial aspects in play here as will, but it gets on my goat when arseholes move into a house, then insist that everyone else stops doing what they had previously been doing for years.  Be that flights from airports, speed limits, demanding bypasses, or noise from pubs/clubs/race tracks.

Arseholes, the lot of 'em  >:(

Slightly OT but an example of incomers calling the shots, as it were.

Up my neck of the woods theres an outdoor, full bore, rifle range that's been in existence since pre first world war.

A cottage nearby (several hundred yards or so) and was duly bought 15 to 20 years ago and immediately thereafter, noise complaints were forthcoming.

And were sadly, upheld but with a twist.

The range users had to build large wooded (railway sleeper) sound barriers twixt firing point and cottage and had to shoot through large (45 gall) plastic poly barrels lined with eggshell foam as an oversize non attached sound moderator.  All at the range users expense rather than loose use of the range.

Despite all these steps the cottage owner still insisted on noise nuisance (perhaps 2 poss 3 days daylight use per week, winds permitting?) and it is a reluctant council permission for continued use despite being there for 100 years or so.....

Its a sad world...... ::)

Brintingthorpe however, had constant moaning, then one day announced "tough, take us to court, it's a pre war airfield, deal with it" where by the moaning stopped for a while. Last I heard.
Donnington park, east midlands airport just up the road and they moan about a bike exhaust over 95db :-\

Mallory, old as the hills, won a few trophy a there, and some scars, about as an enclosed and private a race track as its possible to get. It's the training ground of British motor sport. It MUST live on.

...having said all that, noise does grate on the nerves. :-\
