There are web sites out there that dave has decided you cannot visit,And told your internet supplier to block it... Does VPN allow you to access it..

Yes and no.  It depends where the VPN tunnel exits and with which ISP.  If it ends overseas, then yes, there will no restrictions (but 'could' be slightly slower).  If it ends in the UK it will depend on which ISP the VPN service is using as not all block access in the UK.

If the provider is sky, it will be problematic. Not so Virgin. From experience. :)

Fast, free, no bandwidth or traffic limiting.
No software to download. Quite easy to setup.
Need to bookmark the homepage for the password which changes everyday.
I'm with sky and have had no trouble conecting to any of the sites sky dosn't want me to.

With the free proxies, you need to ask yourself the question "why are these nice people offering this very expensive service for free?".

That should scare you enough into not using them.

Solution, change ISP to one that either doesn't block (for the illegal download content that the courts hammer the big 4 for) or allows opt in/out (for the porn blocking)

Best way is a reverse proxy website, rather than full blown VPN

Same applies. "Why are they giving away this service for free that costs them $1000s a month to provide in server and bandwidth costs?"

The new house will be getting it's own VPN server from which I will connect to wherever I am.  Which means:

- Added security even on Open WiFi
- I can access my files at home without having to use a freakin Cloud POS service (avoid like the plague!)
- No cloud
- I can access UK TV programmes online while abroad
- no freakin cloud
- slightly slower access but the VM 100MB should be enough as long as I can get the server working quick enough ::)


Oh and did I mention I dont have to use a freakin cloud service?!

The Superdud will be the bottleneck, it barely has enough memory to handle the incoming 100Mbit, let alone deal with routing, Wi-Fi, DHCP, etc.

The DHCP and WiFi will be dealt with by other devices.  If the superdud can handle pot-forwarding properly (not convinced) it shouldn't be too bad :-\
