Emission failed!
« on: 02 October 2013, 21:19:39 »

Got a R reg 2.0 estate, which failed its mot and wondering where to start looking to fix it?

Oil (Min 60c) 83c Pass

Fast Idle Test:
Engine Speed (2500-3000 RPM) * Not Checked
CO: (<= 0.30 % vol) 0.70 Fail
HC: (<= 200 ppm vol) 145 ppm vol Pass
Lamba (sign) (0.970-1.030) 1.040 Fail

Engine was warmed/ragged before hand. There was a slight gap in cat>rear box which is sorted. However don't know where to start looking to fix?

Friend has got a machine to read the engine for stats if i need them.

Check there are no leaks in the exhaust, looking at those stats.

Whilst at it, check for leaks in the intake, and if you have decent diags, see what the trims are doing.
