As Lizzie says, you cannot beat a Dyson.  Build quality is excellent and they pick up like no other.

Sill using a DC12 after lending a later model to a family member and not getting it back!  ::)

On top of it's excellence, should you need anything for it within FIVE years of purchase, Dyson will come to your house and remedy any issues FREE OF CHARGE.  Stick that in your pipe and smoke it Kirby et al!

Remember kids, keep your filters clean and empty it properly.

Sorry, but that's not true. Iirc they were prosecuted for trying to claim something similar. There are better vacuums, but they aren't generally in high street shops, and they tend to be a bit more expensive.

Never seen one, so obviously never used one.

I'd wager a weeks earnings my old Dyson would out-perform that.

And no, I'm not suggesting we have a Vacuum meet!  ;D ;D ;D

Ah yes, the root cause was the pins that prevent the motor rotating in the housing had both broken.

The motor, although held fairly tightly, had gradually rotated, and the neutral spade connector had pulled apart.

In my experience the only worse make than a Dyson (filterless with filters!)  is a Vax.  Vax combine the crap material quality and over pricing of Dyson with stupid design and instructions.

Best makes I've found are Numatic and the bullet proof Earlex

Trouble with those is they mark and take lumps out of the skirting, walls and door frames where it gets pulled round the house, ime.

I was told when i first bought a dyson not to throw the box away as i would soon need it to send it back faulty...i have had a dyson for 7 years and still going strong which i now use for my car and garage and my other one which is only 18 months old i use in the house..i have always used a dyson... i found dyson is best especially for pet hair...would not use any other vacum cleaner...And i still have the two boxes in the loft taking up valuable space as never needed them....So i agree with Lizzie..... :y :y

the bullet proof Earlex

That is identical in all but colour to the Wickes own brand bagless wet/dry vac - I have two of those, they're that good. Amy hates them, sadly, but I love 'em; I've used them to empty the inspection pit of water & oil, including wet rags, concrete dust, leaves, stones, and occasionally even the house.. ;D

I have a similar looking thing from Lidl which cost about £35 iirc about 5 years ago :y It'll suck the chrome off a towbar and the only issue that I have with it is that the filter bag is falling apart and I cant find a replacement.  :-\  A pair of tights will do the trick I think.....  ;)
