Opinions on these please.......
« on: 10 October 2013, 17:09:23 »

.......my two front tyres. Are these both legal and will it pass the dreaded MOT in the state that they are? Drivers side is worn on the inside more than the pass side.

Ive explained this to various members, that my car is going no where near WIM until ive sorted my front end issues out.

Drivers tyre.........

Pass side tyre.........

Should pass. Only the inside edge is worn, the rest is all legal. Afaik anyway....?

Needs sorting though. If that goes too far there will be cords hanging out. Although its difficult to tell from the pic, hopefully the tyres will wear out before that happens. (Provided the owner keeps an eye on it ;) )

Look legal to me, yes there is wear on inside edge, but it has to have legal amount across 2/3's of the centre of the tyre i believe, which those have.

Need a WIM session before new boots though  :y

Which I do chris, I go over my car every single week without fail, keeping an eye on various parts and fluids.

Im pretty sure I heard somewhere that a tyre has to be greater than 1.6mm across 3/4 of the tread? Is this correct?

That's what im expecting now. Don't really want to shell out on new rubber just yet  ::)

Rears are perfectly fine, evenly worn at he same rate across the whole width, and legal, so don't need to worry about those just yet.

Probably the only situation where I'd consider part worns over fitting new.

Or, put new on the rear, and put the current rears on the front? If you have to, and, for others reading, assuming the rears are in better nic.
