More ebay nonsense
« on: 29 May 2008, 17:18:01 »

The winner of the Discovery, wants to look over the vehicle upon arrival, and then pay £1000 by PAYPAL

Why??? Surely it's easier just to get cash out?

Or... are they maybe hoping they will be able to start an appeal, if they notice the smallest of fault?  :-/

Not least to say how much I would lose in charges  >:(

Looks iffy -- as though they are planning a chargeback. If they won the auction thay have already bought it, unless significantly mis-described ( which I would bet it wasn't) --- no bl**dy tyre kicking now  >:(

Was Paypal listed as one of your payment methods?

If not, tell them to take a hike? If they've agreed to pay cash and then change their mind...

It may simply be that cashflow would be easier for them to do it that way.. in which case why should you foot the charges? Make them pay the paypal charges on top?

Also, if they're only going to pay it when they've looked over the vehicle do they then expect to drive it away?  :o

Thing is, Paypal only covers up to £500, so if they did pay that way, I would be transferring the money into the bank quicker than you could click your fingers!!!!

Real pain tho -- the charges will bite. Good Grief -- what do these people expect ??

If you go down that route make sure it is an instant payment from their balance .... if it ends up as an e-cheque don't let them have the disco  ...... they bounce easily (echeques that is -- don't know about discos!!!! )

It takes 5 to 7 working days to get the Paypal money into your bank account

what about a direct bank transfer? its insant and you can see the money in your account.

The only thing is you have to give you bank details out.

Most people selling cars usually only accept a deposit by pay pal, the balance in cash or other prearranged payment. :)

Say cash only or give the next bidder a second chance.
