Coolant leak
« on: 28 October 2013, 03:17:20 »

Hi guys, my miggy has a quite major collant leak on the big upper hose where it connects to radiator. The plastic part which goes into the hose isn't cracked so I believe it could be a clip a bit "tired" after all this years. Can I try to replace it with a jubilee clip? I know it should be flexible clip but is it worth trying?
Thanks, Stan

I hope it's a cheap fix and nothing else will appear...I need to watch for overtightening the jubilee clip  :-X

Could always go oversized, and use a piece of old hose to act as a pad between the clip and the pipe :-\

Not a bad idea...better prevent than cure

Or wrap some Amalgamating Tape (gently stretch it as you wrap around) around the hose before you use the Jubilee Clip  :y

Original clip was so flexible i could pull it down the hose with fingers only, replaced it with two jubilee clips and now I'm waiting for a leak under the bonnet, which is my miggy's signature whereever I go....

I had a similar leak on a 2 litre Omega. It turned out to be a crack in the radiator plastic tank pipe junction. Failed to repair it, cured by fitting new radiator.. Good luck!
