Just want to put my mind at rest on this question.

The rear S/L suspenion has no effect what so ever on the level positioning of HID lights ?

Simple answer, no. They are completely different and unrelated systems.

However if the back sits low, or high, due to sl suspension position, then the lights will adjust. But then that's that case regardless of sl fitted or not. But sl shouldn't allow the rear ride height to vary anyway.

Correct it has its own sensors front and rear.

Although the Elite system might talk to the HID level control

Reason I ask is on every start up I get "headlight field warning" appear on the display although clears when press required button.

Got me thinking as I have done all the possible tests for headlight aim without Tech 11....both back/front sensor arms are connected ..have been removed/greased and refitted.Light servo motors were both replaced with working spares when fitted ali adjusters few weeks ago so unsure whee to look now.

Car has S/L suspension being an Elite but shocks were replaced at somepoint with standard and air pipes disconnected so got me thinking if this could be related in some way

Nah, head light levelling has a fault. Wiring sound? Iirc Kev had a wiring issue on his rear sensor.

Make sure the car is level and remove the link rod from the sensor on the offside rear suspension arm. That should stop the ecu from receiving odd signals from the self leveling suspension side of things

Will try that.

Remove the S/L sensor on rear O/S arm so in effect making the car think all is level..then see what happens with the headlight warning .

If it dosen,t come on then maybe some comms between S/L and headlights then ?

when i fitted those angel lye headlights in my miggy---kept getting -field vision high--on my display----took it to mares mot center and he set up headlight beams----display went off---not come back since

I am not sure of this Chris. As I have posted several times on this issue - I used to get the level warning quite regularly and just cleared it and carried on. Kevin Wood came round maybe 3 or 4 years ago with Tech 2 and proved that nothing was wrong and light system - all working fine. So I just ignored it and warning message never seen again for a couple of years until....the other day when it appeared once only - and not again since. I am thinking that moisture maybe affecting fusebox or wiring but is it worth messing with?

If the system is working correctly, the error message is never seen. There for, the system is seeing a fault. Just is. Finding it however...

Car has been standing for some time now and even when I collected it a few months ago .(in the dry) the fault message still appeared.

If the fault message is appearing does that mean the headlight levelling isn,t working..I mean the headlights are not adjusted correctly and potentially will fail a test

The motors "could" be aiming the lights down, and the headlights adjusted to the correct position. Potentially.

Or they could be fine and the fault is a momentary kwirk.

Not Sure on the mot test re the error message.

Engine off, ignition on, lights on. Turn the ignition off then on again, do the lights move up and down? Its a hit and miss test though.

I think you'll struggle without tech 2 tbh

Will have a proper look at the potential light movement against house wall as suggested,but with weather may not be till Saturday evening now.

If not will need to arrange a chat with Tech 2
