Day out .......
« on: 01 November 2013, 00:02:48 »

Took a few days off work as Miss2112 was off school for half term, and today headed down to Dublin and out to an 'Outlet Village' another hour beyond the city (more shopping  :o). Had a great day of quality time though with Mrs & Miss, and did 327 miles into the bargain.
No issue to the Omega, which also turned 80k on the way home  :y
Weather turned a bit sour at times, but it's nearly November and you can't have everything  ;D

If you want outlet shopping go to the Clarkes village in street near Glastonbury.
lots of shops that claim to be "cheaper" than the high street, was only one that was and that was the Clarkes factory shop, saved a good load on lickle griffin school shoes. :)

Just one?  ::) ;D

When I went I was with 3 buddies. Went to the top of the Guinness factory and only then did they all admit they didn't like it. Homo's. However their homosexuality meant I had to drink 4 gorgeous pints of Guinness (inc. one poured by myself  :)) in about half hour........ that was a good night..... I think

MrsT is Irish so I had to like it  ::)  ;D

That said before I met her, last time I had a pint of the black stuff was on top of 5 times of Stella. That did not sit well  ::)

But my first 'proper' pint was at the top of the Guinness Factory  :y

None of the ones since came close, definitely a lot creamier in Dublin I find  :-\

It's an interesting thing. I've drank Guinness in England since I started going out drinking at 14 21, and I've heard loads of folk say its not like the stuff you get in Ireland and that of course the irish stuff is better.

So i then had my first in Ireland and was expecting total difference. there was ''something'' different but i felt that it was just as nice as the stuff we sell.

strange one  :-\

To be fair, its over 20 years since I was drinking in Dublin, so the brew may well be different now. In those days, when the pubs opened there were often 10 or 15 pints already pulled settling on the bar. Do they still do that?

Can't say for sure, but it's possible - allowing it to 'settle'

On a different note, I saw that diesel was about 8 cents more expensive per litre than petrol down south. Here it's about 4p per litre cheaper.

Nobody likes Guinness.  Nobody.

It's one of those 'traditional' things that the Irish despise yet the foreigners love.... "I went to Dublin and the Guinness was amazing"
