Omega driver refund?
« on: 30 May 2008, 22:41:56 »

How about this then. We Omega drivers put forward a "green idea". Simply put it is to get rid of ALL traffic lights. They will be replaced with roundabouts. The savings in electric will reduce greenhouse gasses and Omega drivers will be rewarded for the suggestion by a reduction in road tax (except for those people who own post 2001 cars - they will pay more as obviously they are rich  ;D).

In addition, as cars will move more easily and freely everyone will save fuel thus contibuting to reduced greenhouse gasses and spending less on fuel.  :y

The new roundabouts will be constructed by conscript labour from local prisons (a sort of way of putting something back into society). The economy will receive a boost and the inevitable recession will be narrowly avoided.

Meanwhile back on earth the Swedes have just started their programme of getting rid of their traffic lights..... ;)

varche

PS sadly the prison conscripts will be back again after six months installing speed humps as plonkers will be driving at 70 around the roundabouts stopping the traffic from moving. Buy shares NOW in shock absorber companies. :)

HAHA

I think we all ought to sue the highways because of the speed humps knocking the geometry out of line, this could also be backed up with the poor state of Brittains roads.

Make the bugga's cough up.

So tell that to the useless retards in Milton Keynes local council, who are slowly getting rid of their roundabouts in favour of traffic lights in order to hinder traffic flow  >:(

As in the case of Ashford Borough Council at Junction 10 of the M20! >:(  Guess what; Surprise! Surprise!.......when the traffic lights break down traffic moves faster and far less congestion is the consequence!  ::) ::) ::) ::)

There has been much local comment on this, and the majority say "keep the lights turned off!"

In all my years of motoring I have always found lights on roundabouts to be inefficient, and when not in action, the traffic moves faster! :y

We shall see!  :-/ :-/  But certainly Richie if he re-phases the traffic lights, and especially in central London, whilst retaining the Congestion Charge that has reduced traffic levels there, then journeys may well be quicker with less polution caused. :y

i think tottenham court rd is the worse, i did a restaurnat along there and it was horrendous, i had to wear a mask most of the time(and i never wear a dust mask, ever) as the heat and fumes from the cars and buses was choking me. it must of been near on 40 degrees in the summer. you only get about 2 or 3 cars through the lights.

Chester City Council have loads of roundabouts with traffic lights on. What I cant understand is why there always on, you can be sat at a light at 3am with nothing on the road. Why dont they turn them off after a certain time ::)

if you ever see the traffic light system at the m4 junction to heathrow, ive seen so many drivrs go on the wrong side of the rd because it is so complicated, the day it opened yrs ago 2 pedestrians were killed trying to cross it. always accidents there but nothing ever done about it. i can slip in and out without people knowing what ive done  ;D ;D ;D
