These been quite a few scams over the years, like that XBox one tunnie mentions, and quite cleverly worded to mean that refunds via paypal are impossible.

I've said it loads of times before, never buy or sell "risky" items from/on ebay, as the scammers know all the workarounds.

"Risky" - high value electronic goods, such as mobiles, laptops, tablets.

Whilst there are still a few remaining genuine buyers and sellers, ebay has unfortunately succombe to a combination of intentional scammers and retards who should really be allowed anywhere near the internet. And a mindset has developed over the past 3 or 4 years that its OK to sell shit that is fake/doesn't work/misdescribed etc, as "everyone else is doing it".

Aside from exhausts and some items of cheap tat (that I knew was tat before buying, but just needed a cheap item for a specific task) absolutely everything I have bought from ebay in the last 3+ years I've had a full refund on via Paypal. I try to avoid the place, along with Amazon Marketplace and play.com (now they no longer sell anything themselves).

Who knows, maybe the High Street will make a comeback, as I can't be alone in getting fed up with this shoddy service?

Have only had one significant issue with ebay, bought a dvd changer on the basis that it played region 2 discs. I emailed the seller asking that plain and specific question. Seller confirmed it did. Item turned up, with region 1 on the box and clearly stating in the user manual that it played only region 1 discs.

A short conversation followed, which saw a full refund, and the seller delisting the item... I have only ever bought specific/specialist items, never the latest must have branded chav rubbish, and would only buy dried noodles from Hong Kong and the like. :y

I have had hundreds of transactions on ebay and only one which wasn't up to expectations. That one involved less than a fiver.
The vast majority of ebay users are pretty decent and honest. You just need to use a bit of common sense, like you should with any other transaction.

I have bought hundreds of items off ebay and rarely had any problems. If you are willing to collect, you can get some real bargains.

Recently I got a really posh leather sofa and chair for £41, a lovely wardrobe for 99p, a nearly new dishwasher for £40, a posh hand painted bed for £20 (originally cost £1700), an Ikea tv unit for £20 (originally cost £250), two other double beds for £60 and lots of other things.

To date, never had any problems that have not been quickly resolved. Before I buy anything the first two things I check are how many transactions have they done and the percentage quality of the feedback. Below 100 transactions I will not buy if feedback not 100% and everybody else it has to be above 99%.

Caveat Emptor applies to all buying and all selling at ALL times.

Never been afraid to sack customers when they are less than 10% of your turnover but require 90% of your time, to concentrate on the 90% of turnover that need 10% of your time.

When I'm buying stuff I only suffer bad customer service once, they will never get a second chance. What price do you put on good customer service? I know the price I put on bad service, I sack the supplier.

Recently I had a package go astray in the post from an Ebay supplier I have used several times, a few days later it was returned to them with a note saying delivered to the wrong address, not only did they send it by recorded delivery the second time at no extra cost but they game me a 5% discount refund for the problems I had, had.  :y :y :y :y

I think the only hassle ive had from ebay....

Won a Samsung 38" lcd tv......for £150.....it said collection only and was in London.....not a prob I thought...as I won it on a Wednesday and had a Heathrow drop on the Friday....so just pop into London after the Heathrow  :y

The problem was, after I had won the action....the seller wanted collection the same day or nextday at the latest.....so I had to make a special trip to London to go get it  :(

Why didn't he say in the advert, when he wanted it collected  >:(

rechargeable batteries are a pretty good buy from HK.....usually less than half the price than the UK....never had a problem with the sellers.....just make sure they will mark the customs label as 'gift'  :-X

My friend had an iphone he dropped into the loo. Allegedly he dried it out and sold it on the bay. Got a lot less for it than he paid and I am sure whoever bought it thought they were getting a bargain.

Similarly had a sofa that had some visiting friend's bodily fluids on. Quick wipe, splash of febreez and onto ebay to be sold onto an unsuspecting soul. :o

I avoid ebay at all costs.

Like some other posters I have not had a problem with ebay in the 6 or so years I have bought and sold, mainly bought.......... ::) ::)

Did a lot of Christmas shopping last night, my rule of thumb is never to buy anything that I could not afford to lose the money on, oh and strictly follow TB's comments on electrical items............. :y :y
