Reminds me of the old Kawasaki joke......What does a Kawasaki H2 owner and a deep sea diver have in common?

ANSWER......They both have a mortal fear of the 'bends'.....Groan. ;D ;D

Yep, a lardy two stroke triple that chucked out 70 BHP. A friend of mine had one with a full 'Dunstall fairing'. :y

It looked good but handled like a dog on polished lino. ;D

They may have claimed nearly 70bhp for them but ime they were nowhere near that. I doubt they were more than 50bhp tbh. .Genuine top speed was around 110mph on a good day iirc. The Kwak 500 H1 Mach3 was 60bhp and the kettle felt like a 250 in comparison. They all go for ludicrous money now imo. I would love to have a 500H1 or 750 H2 for old times sake, but they are more like a pension fund than a weekend toy now.

A mate of mine when we were (much) younger had a 500 or 550 Kawasaki triple,I seem to recall it was called a Samuri or summit,I remember it was bloody quick but didn't take to corners at all well hence he dropped it and took some lumps out of himself :-*

Sounds like a H1 500 Mach3. Very fast indeed in its day - fastest accelerating production bike in the world iirc - with an on/off switch type powerband, Coupled to a chassis made from plasticine and appalling brakes this made it a tad exciting to ride. ;D
I had the dubious honour of binning one and living to tell the tale, but many people who had them weren't so lucky.
If I had to pick one bike from that era to have now that would be the one. Even more so than the 750 H2 or the 900 Z1.  :y
It was more like riding an untamed horse than a motorbike tbh. Great fun.  ;D

I'd rather go for the iconic Z1........83 BHP through pipe cleaner forks and a 'bendy' frame was the norm back then. It even looks great today with that four pipe exhaust. :)

I remember him saying that there was a 750 version as well, good job he didn't have that one as he would have lost bigger lumps ;D

Tbh I found the 500 more exciting and probably just as fast as the 750. I knew a bloke who had a 750 triple tuned to 90bhp - which was staggering in the 70,s - and was very rapid. Steering damper screwed down to max. at all times. The good old days.  ;) ;D
Z1 900 was nice, but give me a 2 stroke every time. ;)
