Misfire cylinder 5

Hi all,

Gave my engine bay a clean today using soapy water, de greaser and garden hose to rinse.

Left the engine running whilst doing said clean. Wish I hadn't bothered now. Fine on tick over but moment any throttle used, it's miss firing. Checked codes and it's showing No.5 is the issue.

What have I done to it to cause the misfire and how best to fix please?

Don't doubt I'm going to get stick for washing it anyway, but would be really grateful for pointers on solving my issue :-[

Filled the coilpack wiring and plug wells with water ::) that'll learn you ;D

Yep, it will. :-[

Is it a simple case of remove the coilpack and dry out?  ???

A hose!!!!! That will teach you mate. I had a misfire due to water ingress from the gap in the scuttle drain above coils 2 4 6. Sucked the water out and all was well afterwards. Sealed that little gap so hopefully no further issues.

I know and I did try to be careful too. On the plus side the bay looks cleaner, lol. Will take it easy going to work tomorrow and have a go and drying it out on my break.

How's tricks with you anyway?

De-greased mine a few weeks back but just warmed the engine then turned it off , put de-greaser on then rinsed off with watering can  :) Used a pressure washer on engine years ago ... never did that again  :-[ :-X ;D

Never understand washing engine bay, with hoses or pressure washes. Just use a rag, tiny bit of WD40 on it. Comes up a treat.

The bay was in a mess. Now its cleaner I can keep on top of it with rags etc 8)

I use that method plus a tooth brush. Works well. Cleans it instead  of making it shine. I have some engine silicone but I don't use it much on the mig.
