Had the pleasure of a visit to dentist today for tooth extraction, the lady dealing with the offending brute pulled and twisted for no kidding 15mins eventually breaking it off at wind and water line! Pulled with all her might and yes it hurt.I now have been refered to some specialist in the near future to have my gum cut to remove root so just wondering has any one else had this done. Let me know what its like, didnt mind the dentist until today!

Last time I was at dentist for an extraction I was bricking it. She said I had strong gums and it Would take a bit of pulling.  :(
3 tugs and absolutely no pain later it was out. Couldn't believe my luck  :)

Had similar a few years ago when a young slightly built female dentist just didn't have the strength to pull my tooth out. She was hanging on it for ages and eventually got the assistant to join in and then it eventually came out. I had the gum cut open jobby about 5 years ago when the wall of my sinus came out with the tooth. Had to be cut into strips and then sewn over the hole.
Prescription strength painkillers for a couple of days will numb it sufficiently. Not pleasant, but Ive had a lot worse.  ;)

I must say that I have had some excellent dentist in my time, and in particular my current one.

All have been men with the strength to pull out teeth (I must admit this is one job female dentists find it hard to do!), and my South African dentist, a white Afrikani who's gorgeous, pulled a tooth out for me just two weeks ago.  As usual absolutely no pain throughout, and he is an expert at giving the pain killing injections before he starts. No pain afterwards either, and although I do have a high pain threshold, it is down to the dentist as to how much discomfort you ever feel.

Listening to other people, I know I have been very lucky! :) :) :)

I have sedation every time, so it doesn't matter how long it takes or what they have to do as I know nothing about it (or the rest of the days events) at all when the job is done.
