Robbing dealers!!!!
« on: 17 December 2013, 10:41:43 »

Popped into my local dealers today to pick up 2 check strap bushes. While waiting a woman before me was saying to guy behind counter that key fob just stopped working this morning. He went to car and said yep not working and changed battery, tried it again and it worked. Charged the woman £5 odd for new battery that you could have got a pack in poundland I was gob smacked :o :o

I'm gobsmacked too, that he only charged her a fiver.

for the first time ever I actually agree with STE-HOMO. he diagnosed a fault, included the part and fitted it for a fiver. he could have said ''it may not be the battery, youd better leave it with us''  ;)

A switched on employee would have done it for free :-X

Besides, £5 is a damnside less than Helfrods would charge...

I thought is was normal with a Vx for £5 for the battery and another £80 to resync the key.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

Not being funny, but are you seriously saying that £5 was too high?  ???  ::)

You may get cheaper in pound land, but I doubt it's same spec/type that Vx specify.

I'd walk out very pleased at that price, I think it was very reasonable!

Perhaps you try the same in an Audi Dealer  :y

Agreed. Walking into a dealer and announcing "It's broke" normally has them reaching for the pot of vaseline. I could easily see them charging 30 minutes labour to swap a battery and check it, etc. i think they've been very fair.

I'm lucky, as I get quality CR2032s delivered for free as and when I need them.

However, I wouldn't pay 10p for the tatty batteries that poundland sell, they really are poor. Same as the £3 for 100 CR2032 from HK egay specials. Utter crap.

Back on topic, £5 to diagnose and replace battery sounds reasonable for a £100 per hour dealership....
