Water under front passenger mat
« on: 23 December 2013, 15:54:57 »

Just noticed the above with the carpet sopping wet. Can't see any obvious holes underneath the car. Anyone else had this? I wondered why the car misted up so quickly.

Blocked scuttle drain... allows water to overflow into the heater ducting via the pollen filter...

Deal with it now and you might get away with only needing a pollen filter :-\ leave it and you'll kill the hedgehog resistor and possibly the fan itself :-\

Are the scuttle drains filled with crap...especially the passenger one behind the battery under the scuttle grille....may be filled with leaves..dirt and crap and need pushing through by cleaning it out. :-\

Scuttle drain is blocked, pop the bonnet. Flap in the scuttle lifts up, poke down there with a stick/flush with hose.

Make sure you do this ASAP as it will kill your fan speed controller, also put this on the monthly check list to be kept clear  :y

The water will have  probably run into the back seat carpet passenger side as well. Take carpets and sound proofing out a dry indoors or it will smell terrible. Not a good time to dry things out but must be done.A fan heater inside the car will help with anything that you cant remove.Been there a couple of times. :y

Not really, checked every 6 months and its fine. It's when it's not inspected for years you get problems  :y

I cleaned mine out approx 2 weeks ago (not much in there to clean out) and a couple of days ago I just caught it in time before it overflowed. I know you will say clean it out better but the outlet seems to close itself up. Cleaned with a bent wire I will try the 3 core cable method shown on the forum some time ago, when it stops raining, maybe that will open it up better.
