Indeed, the shockwave would tear them off, making it a pretty effective single use missile

The Delta layout has long since been proven as the way to do supersonic, whether that be with a fixed shape (Concorde, SR71, F15/16, Eurofighter) or swept/vaiable wings (Tornado, F14, F111). The variable wings offering far greater low speed control

Depends if you want it to cruise efficiently at MACH >> 1 or just get there by brute force, though.

IME, it's not even worth reading aviation related "stories" in the Daily Fail as their aviation specialists clearly don't have any grasp on reality or the basic laws of physics.
