Is alive and well.. Many thanks to Lincs Robert for popping over with his socket and scaffold pole. ALL bolts undone now, except for... The locking bolts. Snapped off the internals of the adapter trying to undo the first one... 'ah well'! Seem to remember a mate hammering a socket onto locking bolts to undo them??? I'll give it a try...

Managed to get a Irwin nut removal socket on one of mine has a left hand spiral threat bash it on then has hexagonal flats on tother end to fit a socket on to

Refit the wheel bolts but don't tighten them down. Leave a few millimeters gap between the shoulders of the bolts and the wheel. Find a suitable open area and drive the car in a 'figure of eight' a few times. This should loosen the locking bolt and make the job easier for the 'hammered on socket' method or the proper tool.

I was in a similar predicament a couple of months back. Seized solid and not even the proper spiral kit would work. Tried the 'figure of eight' and random driving around for a few minutes on waste ground and the spiral kit worked fine.

I've only ever needed internet help thus far[fingers crossed]but that help was quickly forth coming and from other posts I've read on here physical help never seems to be far away either,a truly good spirited and helpful community on here.No I've never heard of the "figure eight"trick for wheelnuts,but I shall remember it just in case it's ever needed.

Hi Turk, sounds like it could work, would love to give it a try, but as I said in another post. 'The tyre is split and flat as a fart'..

Truly horrid things , throw them in the bin and put normal bolts in  Had to gas torch the ones off the Carlton

I agree, don't have them on the Jeep or the Mig, and the Jeep has expensive tyres, I reckon if someone is going to steal them then they will regardless, they are more trouble than they are worth ime...............

Just for the sake of information. I eventually stumbled on 'Dynamec' removal tool. Apparently issued to RAC and AA patrol vehicles. Really helpful company who, if you cannot afford to buy their tool @ £125, you can give the very helpful young lady your postcode and she will give you a list of people in your area who have the tool. I phoned the first number she gave me and the bloke was here in 10 minutes. She also offered a service where they will come to you to take your locking wheel nuts off. Excellent service....
