Down on power after a few miles
« on: 12 January 2014, 17:31:20 »

I've noticed that my car is sluggish once it warms up. OK when first starting.

I've been trying to save fuel so I can pay for Christmas lol, would that cause it

You don't have a paperclip?  :D

Seriously that is all you need for 2.5 V6, some TD's can also be done as well. See here:

Helps if you tell us what engine exactly you have  ;)

If you stick your location in your profile, you might find someone with a proper code reader lives nearby and can assist......    :)

I followed the guide with the paperclip, and got nothing.

Any other ideas?

I'd be very surprised to see an Omega of that age with no codes what so ever. Sure you are doing it right?

FWIW, I had this problem on a car once. It turned out to be that the intake air ducting had come adrift just behind the radiator and the engine was ingesting hot air from behind the rad. As soon as the thermostat opened, I got hot air in the intake and, surprisingly, this cause enough of a power loss for it to be immediately noticeable.

On an Omega, this is less likely, since an air leak into the multiram ducting would bypass the MAF and cause more serious running issues, but it might be worth checking the ducting for leaks. In addition, check if the inlet to the airbox from the pipe in front of the radiator is still connected and, of course, if a "performance" air filter is fitted this is likely to cause the same symptoms.
