I don't trust someone to store all my stuff in the cloud, so I use 'Password Safe'; it's available for Windows and as a Java port (so cross platform to Mac & Linux) and keeps the more byzantine passwords secure for those sites that mandate a number, letter, punctuation etc.

For anywhere that lets you use more than 12 characters, though, you're arguably better off using a string of common, easy to remember, English words: https://xkcd.com/936/

Never bothered with them myself, I use plain English words with a bit of "leet" speak thrown in to the spelling (eg, Oranges becomes 0range5).
