As the title suggests. V6 lsc front springs now NLA from Vauxhall. Also NLA from main motor factors around Bristol too. Am off to measure current ride height to see what the nearest replacement is. Have a suspicion that -30mm won't be that different to what's there at the moment which is very very baggy.

I know the fronts should be about 660mm, but what should standard rear non self levelling estate ride height be?

I think a 30mm lowered front, and a standard height rear works well.

Maybe TB will confirm. :-\

Thank you. I may well go the whole hog depending on ride height and fit an eibach pro spring kit all round, currently about £260 for all 4 springs. I spoke to Eibach who made the springs for GM and there are none in European stock for MV6 as they very rarely carry OE spec springs. The only way to get them would be a club group buy, they'll make single sets to order but at a price you can imagine but rather wish you couldn't

As I've mentioned several times around these parts, the rear suspension geometry on omega can't really cope with any more than 20mm lowering.

If going to 30mm or more the set up on the single adjuster tie rods per side can't achieve the correct measuerments for camber and toe, as the tie rod adjustment is a compromise on both settings, beyond 20mm, it's not possible to get the rear in spec.

Tyre wear will result on the inner shoulders and it will rear wheel wonder all over the place.

However, adding another 10mm thick rubber pad, such as the oe ones that sit between spring and arm, by cutting off the centre will bring it back in spec to give 20mill lower ride.

Yes that helps. My concern all along, why I wanted the lsc springs, is not to try to do something impossible. I'm struggling to find good parts diagrams to identify all the smaller parts I'll need to replace. Currently sorting out the front strut top mounts without success, or just worry about the bearings?

Assume with the rear pad, it will slot above the rear spring top mount and stay in position if glued back to back or is that not needed.

Herrman's ride height is a bit of joke at the mo. 680mm front 720 mm rear whilst on a slight upward incline. Put an 85kg passenger in each front seat and the fronts drop 40mm, rears drop 10mm.

So: Front strut mounts & bearings
      Bilstein B6s - Eibach suggest these will work better with the pro kit than B4s
      Eibach Pro kit
      Wishbones
      Drop links
      Front wishbone Poly bushes. ARB bushes are in good condition.
      Rear spring bottom mounts modified
      Rear Poly Monaro doughnuts.
      Another visit to WIM agent

B4's here. No complaints.(irmscher front springs -30mm, mv6 lsc rears -15)

Interested to hear how you get on with b6.

See all German parts for oe top mounts and bearings, but top mounts are a rare failure, the bearings do get pitted in the straight ahead position however, they should be tapered rollers really, but they do the job I guess.

Rear spring pads I placed mine on the bottom, just so they stay put fitting the springs, it makes no odds other than that.

Wishbones, might be worth mentioning refurbing if you have access the facilities. But other than that, sounds good to me. :y

Will start the parts buying. B6s are not cheap so will probably have to wait for next month's money. Will report back once it's all bedded in & before Mot in April which is what I had my eye on.

Sum total of the parts is about £150 more than I paid for the car - wife not impressed, until I asked how Herman could be replaced for £800. She understands classic cars as I've had a few, and now just thinks of him as another one.
