Are OE springs avlbl for a reasonable price from VX? If so are they better than, say, KYB?

I couldn't find any listed on TC when I looked last weekend. :(

BOGE were mentioned as a decent alternative so I went to the ZF online catalogue. Looked up the BOGE part number, called Jason at Allgermanparts and he had a pair delivered to me 2 days later for £39.70 each (+post & VAT came to £101.28))

I bought rear springs for my 2003 Elite saloon with self levelling.

The ZF catalogue lists the following for a TD Estate
Quote
BOGE  25-964-0 Coil Spring - for vehicles without ride height control - Fitting Position : Rear Axle

BOGE 25-98F-0   Coil Spring -for vehicles without ride height control - Reinforced Version - Fitting Position : Rear Axle

BOGE 25-E49-0 Article to be discontinued - Coil Spring - Fitting Position : Rear Axle - for vehicles with height-adjustable suspension

I wasn't able to save a direct link. The nearest I could get is ZF Catalogue then select Make, then model/body, then engine, then click on the picture of spring, then click show parts.

Having used Boge and KYB, I'd go Boge every time...  ...hence when I did the rear springs before xmas, Boge went on.

Presumably you use these because VX OE ones are unavailable/dearer/inferior (delete as appropriate)? :-\

Last time I found a price for Genuine VX  about 4 years ago **I think** they were £240 ish (my memory isn't what it was so don't shoot me if I'm wrong :( )

The quality wasn't / isn't in question - just the price.

This time I couldn't find them listed on the Tradeclub website and I didn't have time to contact/visit the dealer before making a decision so I went with the safe option.

Price.

Boge and KYB are approx same price for rears, iro £40 each. In my own personal experience, the KYB ones rust like hell after a year of 2, the Boge ones seem to stay rust free.  Hard to say, as other factors like shocks affect it, but I felt the KYBs seemed to feel softer after a few months.

There's a set of these, BOGE 25-E48-0, on Amazon for £32 each, but they appear to only fit saloons. ???
