Checkers/Draughts. Just learned how to play...
« on: 04 February 2014, 14:09:55 »

...this game is excellent! I can beat the wife easily  ::)

But I upped the ante and tried to play the computer. Easy to beat on ''easy'' level but on medium hardness I'm finding it very difficult.

Anyone got any hints/tips? Really is a wicked game!!!!  :y

Ps, I can play chess as in I know the rules and what the pieces do (although the ''Castling'' move has always stumped me and I can't remember which way it goes  ;D but it's so difficult.

It's a strategy game, you can really only make a decision on the next best move once you see what your opponent presents you with.

Much prefer Chess meself.

Tried it? Much more engaging. IMO. :)

Although even that gets repetitive, ESP in the early moves.

Yeah I know how to play chess. I got a bit demoralised cos I could never seem to get any better :(

At least I'm finding checkers I'm seeing improvements and I find it's easier to see where you're about to go wrong. Chess... I could be beaten and still not know where I went wrong  ;D

I am a clever b*****d, captained the school chess team, played for town adult  chess team at 12 years of age travelling around pubs and clubs and memorial halls, being picked up at home by elderly gentlemen in Austin A 40s - whatever would they say today.

Last serious game was against a chess champ who was doing a Guinness book of records tournament at Wellington College a few years ago. I was there from 8 am and got knocked out about midnight.

Not played a human being since but a few games against computer. Sort of totally lost interest having once been a fanatic. Bit like my relationship with the wife.
