Steamy windows
« on: 07 February 2014, 21:02:27 »

No it's not you're thinking! The windows on the mig steam up all the time in this cold damp weather. The heaters work fine but still they steam up,the only way to stop it is to have a window open[even just a tiny amount does the job],scuttles are clear the only thing missing is the pollen filter which it's never had since I bought it,but why do the windows constantly steam up?It's the only car I've ever had that's been like this.

Fix the ac. Fit pollen filter.

Air-con has never worked since I've had the car, although I don't know what's wrong with that,it seems to me that that could get quite expensive to sort and as I only paid £400 for the car to start with it wouldn't be worth the expense to sort out!Do you think a pollen filter would ease the problem?

Is there anything blocking the boot area inside the boot on the right hand side where there is the flap to open ..in that cubby hole there is a plastic vent to allow the air out of the car....if you have stuff in there and blocking that grille ,,that will make your windows steam up as well.. :y

It will continue to steam up until the ac is sorted. Climate control is designed to work with ac.

My cc is all working. If I turn ac off/select Eco the windows stream up in 2 minutes.

Look after the car it will look after you. And others, when visibility is good. Obviously.

Mine has been steaming up recently. Turns out the pollen filter was dirty and damp which was restricting the airflow. I put a new filter in and the air flow has increased noticeably and much reduced the steaming up :y

If the filter hadn't been there then all the crap that was on the filter would now be on the heater matrix and A/C matrix. Putting a new filter in will add resistance if you don't have one fitted before.

PS After I had finished a number of jobs last weekend I discovered that my AC has stopped working >:( It is so long since we last had any decent weather I hadn't noticed.  ::) It has been steaming up on occasions since just before Christmas, it never did it when the A/C was working :(

Mine throws a wobbly and steams up occasionally, even with air con running. Cycle the recirc on and off again and it clears. It's a bug in the climate panel, apparently. You will struggle if the air con isn't functioning, as said. If you manually increase the fan speed and direct the flow to the screen it should be OK?

Mine has suffered from steaming up windows since I bought it.

My aircon does not work and I can't afford to fix it right now.

I replaced the pollen filter and found the arm that opens the recirculating flap was disconnetced. I fixed that and it still misted up.

Recently, I tried switching the climate control 'auto' off and using 'eco' mode. Now it is the same as my other cars, normal.

Had the same problem as Kevin & dublin.jd. Now TOTALLY cured by recycling the recirculation button now and again,
which resets the flap position to the ECU which forgets.
Turn on the screen booster, and you should hear the airflow change when you turn the recirc on and off.
Also it was mentioned on the forum the other week that the aircon only operates above 5 deg. so no good on
a frosty morning.
Found it also helps if its really cold, to turn off the rear seat heating vents and the middle ones in the front.
