Try Farnborough right now. Some breakwit decided to place roadworks with a crap 4 way traffic light system which is not as biased towards the main thoroughfare as it should be.  End result? 30 minutes to travel what normally takes 3.

It's fair to say that I hemorrhaged a few times today, being held up by dawdlers. I had evil visions of ramming them, is that normal?  ;D ;D

Fortunately I have a back route into Farnborough station but then get caught up in the nonsense you describe for a few minutes as the station area is blocked. I think the problem is caused by the Council now taking "out" the bus lanes they put in not so long ago which have been a total failure with buses using them on rarer occasions than you see rocking horse shit. No one will be sacked for this

Actually that's not exactly fair... there are very few experienced people left... alot of council bean counters are recent graduates with limited life experience. Great for Councils, crap for the rest of us for a single reason... they are numbers driven... if it saves a quid on the face of it then that is all that matters, regardless of the cost of the implications :-\

Patching potholes being a case in point... a pound spent on fixing a 1m2 pothole four times a month is £48 every year. The price of laying 1m2 of road is £9 (2011- Somerset Council).

Assuming it lasts 2 years, that's £18 life cost for a piece of well made road, as opposed to £96 for the same area of pothole. As TB would say, even the stupid kid from the local comprehensive can work that out ::) but all the beancounters see is a £1 pothole repair, so mentally they have saved £8...
