Dont have any any Spring Compression Tools kicking around, any thing I can use or make up as a temp measure to remove Front Springs?, the whole Steering Rack, wheels, suspension is off the car in one piece at the moment if thats easier.

Assume rears will just pull out with the Rear Body lifted high enough.

The springs are large, powerful and oddly shaped. Anything you make needs to be really robust. I know two people who have been injured recently using proper compressors, so I wouldn't risk it.

Was thinking the same Nick, these are Plod Heavy Duties as well.

I used cable ties once fortunately the strut was still attached to the car and I was in another room when they failed. Never again

Choose your weapon wisely, Laser spring compressors don't fit very well, and make removing the top mount fiddly and time consuming...

Could try loading the front end to compress the springs, undo the top plates and slowly remove the weight, then slowly/carefully jack the car. Not sure how safe or practical this would actually be, so treat it as thinking out loud rather than a good idea

Yea, thanks Al, I know what you mean, didn't think about removing or undoing the the top whilst still on the Car, would have been easier, but there off the Car now as at the time was more interested in cut the front off to remove Engine and Box.

Dont really trust the Compression Tools anyway tbh, I see if Ive got some HD Steel plates and Threaded Rod and knock something up safely, otherwise just dump them with the rest of the Car.

The MachineFart ones are good enough, about £25 for a set of 3. Not worth taking risks.
