Took wifey's megane to this fine out fit today for a full service and MOT. Why? you ask....£165....seems reasonable and I always check they've done what they say they've done.
So I gets a phone call about half ten saying it's passed it's mot except for two loose cv gaiters and, as I instructed, they've 'fixed' them as it cost less than £50. Alarm bells but hey ho. They were doing the service now.
About half one I gets a call expecting them to say 'Come and pick it up'. No. We think your steering geometry needs adjusting and both rear discs are 'at the limit'.
'Dont you dare touch the steering geometry!' I said, 'and, if it passed the MOT, the discs will be fine'.
But...but...but
Never fickin mind but, I'll be along to pick it up shortly.

£192......all done.

When I went to pick it up, he'd written 'Brake pads/discs..£300' and 'Steering geo..£74'. I asked what those figures were for and he told me he put them there in case I changed my mind and wanted it doing.  Well...I laughed...and laughed... ;D ;D

I couldn't care less how cheap Kwik $hit will do a so called "full" service for, I'd drag my cancer ridden arse across broken glass and force myself to find the energy to fix it myself before I let one of those semi trained lab rats anywhere near ANYTHING mechanical.

I suppose I could use a main dealer...they seem to be very reputable, if a tad expensive. ;D

Now let's see..what does a service entail?
Spark plugs, 4, done.
Air filter, 1, done.
Oil change, done, with correct grade.
Oil filter, done.

Anything else, ie., check this and check that is totally unnecessary as I can do it myself, and probably isn't done by anyone. Both my wife and I drive cheapish, mass-produced cars. They are not our 'Pride and joy', they are for getting about in and any tosser could service one.

I know the manager there, he's off sick at the moment. He has worked for a main dealer, so I suppose I should be a bit worried. ;D
