My son-in-law had a disagreement with a concrete post in IKEA, and I spent the day sorting it out. First call was finding bits; we found a helpful scrappies in Osset who sold us a front bumper for £50, but unfortunately my son used the internet to search for the headlamp. Doncaster motor spares offered one for £20, take it off the car, so we travelled 37 miles, only to be offered one for the older model, and the wrong side. However they found a new one for the correct side, but the price had gone up to £45.

Also getting back thro Wakefield is a pain, the que was massive, and took a long time to traverse.
The car was a bit pushed in on the N/S which really need a ram or puller to straighten. Unfortuantely I don't have access up here to either, so resorted to my old "conservation of momentum", eg tie the damaged bit to the tow bar of my Miggy and drive away. It is butch as h*ll, not very accurate, but it works
I also discovered an interesting chemical fact; rusted bolts get harder, much harder than HSS drills.
2 of the fixing bolts had rusted off, and trying to drill the buggers out blunted several drills. I had to gring the studs off, hope the steel hasn't heat treated and try again. Unfortunately the batteries in the drill went flat so its more tomorrow, big hammer at the ready.
I thought things were supposed to get easier with car technology advancing as it does. No, the same old problems, rusted nuts, broken plastic bits that are expensive and very hard to find, and metal remains its old recalcitrant self, never going into the shape you want without a big hammer.
