I've got Climate Control!
« on: 08 June 2008, 16:03:42 »

I've got Climate Control again :)  No more heatstroke/frostbite cycle - I can set a temperature and it stays there (more or less). :) :) :)

Many thanks to shanjon who supplied the part for a paltry sum, and TheBoy who provided the pictures which showed my neighbour how to get at the CC unit, and, of course, to my neighbour, who did the hard bits first time round and thus enabled me to complete the job today.  And, naturally, to the OOF for facilitating.

Of course, now that's finished, and the car works, I don't have to come here any more.

Your lucky you havent got facelift climate control.......

Useless imo.........

Got my aircon mate to check it again last week.......inside airvent temp of 5C ......he reckoned thats as low as its gonna go.....

If i set mine on 20C or lower if the sun is out the blower fan just runs on max all the time......and its too noisey.....plus if the fan is on max all the time it goes to show the interior temp is higher than what ive set and it carnt cool it enough  >:(

Tho my mate did suggest its a big interior for it to cool.......estate remember....so he told me to leave it set on manual ie on LO and adjust the fan speed myself........which ive been doing.......tho for example it made it comfortable today but wasnt cold by any standard........plus its like have a dishwasher and washing up by hand.......defeats the object if you see what i mean  >:(

That sounds like what was happening to mine.  Wouldn't worry about the latest software - just find someone breaking a suitable car and buy a complete new unit.  I think there was one on eBay last week - is it the same unit as they put in the Vectra Elites and other top of the range models?

Vectra different. Prefacelift run different software between saloon/estate, same software on facelifts.

Later software improves things, esp on facelifts, or if you have a very early prefacelift with only 5 fan speeds.
