Exhaust manifold was blowing so started to investigate, removed heat shield, no cracks or signs of problems. But 7 of the 10 studs were loose, all re-tightened. Checked down pipe , took off 4 bolts , gasket showing soot where it was blowing, and 1 bolt had 2 locking washers where it was blowing. Installed new gasket and bolts job done total cost so far £8. £3.50 for bolts £4.50 for gasket.
Next job cam belt and water pump. Purchased GM parts online, Cam belt kit , belt, tensioner, pulley's £45, water pump, Continental £16.
Fitting the belt was no problem with the locking mechanism in place. Water pump removal was a right pig, think it was the original, it was full of corrosion around the rubber seal. That's the oily bits done. Next down to the local mechanics to sort out the tracking, two front tires badly worn on the insides . Two new tires £54 each, tracking £35. All in all a busy day.
