Not being funny, Mr emd, but OOF is really not the best place to seek advice on stuff like this. Amateur doctors will give you advice by the bucket load, but you really should be talking to your GP.

Bizarre this thread turned up today. Last night was discussing statins with pub landlord. He drinks 14 pints of mild a day and was called to take part in some clinical test for cholesterol  - when he told them how much he drank they said no point in doing test. Anyhow he pointed out travel time and costs so they agreed to do it and result was 3.7. So we know how to keep it low then??

Can't see how beer would affect it really. I mean, it's fat, innit?

Because alcohol dissolves fat, which also includes your brain as that is largely fat according to a top doctor I was talking to over a pint, which was his excuse for only the one, to keep his brain sharp.

I too am diabetic, my cholesterol level on my last blood test apparently was 11, too high supposedly, its meant to be 10 or lower......so my surgery wants me to go on Statins.....im undecided at the moment.....my feet especially are usually cold.....i feel the cold generally anyway...since taking the diabetic tabs......i even went out and bought some fleece lined moccasin slippers to keep my feet warm when im at home....do i agree to take them or not, not if they are going make me feel even colder  :-\
