Both significant repairs on mine were costed at over £4k each...

Combined repairs cost me less than £3k, and everything was replaced as required...

Last Cat C was effectively due to three stone chips :o so never believe what an insurance estimator says :-X

That said, what's done is done, you made the call as you saw fit :y

It was at the stage that if I had have gone for a repair I would have to have borrowed a couple of grand and been off the road for a week, now if the car had been newer I would have done that, but it was just starting to show its age, wheel arches needed painting, front bushes yet again needed replacing, I was looking at £300 minimum as well to get the MOT (tyre, exhaust, bushes) so no matter what about £2000 to £3000

Just driving home, a BMW (3) in front of me swerved into a Peugeot (no idea what model it was a ball of twisted metal) coming the other way, the out of control peugeot spun into me and pushed me sideways quite hard.

£18 years of V car ownership over.

I would have got an Omega C except for the simple fact that they never made one.

Main thing is at least your o.k  :y Maybe you could replace it with a VXR8 ... but then again they are very pricey and only a rebadged Holden Monaro

I tried a well recommended and not overpriced repair place and he had a good look and said over £2000, about £2500 and second hand doors would not have saved too much.
