Feet
« on: 29 March 2014, 22:22:27 »

Another trip to the doctors yesterday as my feet are playing up now  :( Feet feel like blocks of ice but hot to touch , doctor says the nerve endings maybe the problem  ??? I went because diabetics suffer from this so just had to clarify feet are ok . Was given pain killers  ??? Where is Doctor Cem , pain killers not working  :(

Could be diabetic neuropathy ie nerves. But did it come on suddenly? Or has it built up? Do you get any pain/cramps when trying to walk? Do the feet go blue at any point?

You not been called in for eye and feet screening yet?
They do it annually around here checking your feet for pulses and feeling and taking a picture of the back of your eye. The idea being to catch any problems before they get to a severe level.

Unfortunately, previous smoking does not help circulation, especially in your legs, so it may be worth getting this checked further. A friend has had several operations due to circulation problems in his legs due to smoking.  :(

Doesnt sound like gout. The slow onset points towards diabetic neuropathy. Circulatory problems usually cause you to loose the pulse in your feet and are more painful when you try to walk (worsens on exertion).

You certainly need a podiatry assessment ASAP. Ask your GP for a referral. The podiatrist can do a filament test or a quantitative sensory test.

Have a read from a reliable source, the Mayo clinic:
