I don't have problem with smoking and non smoking areas in pubs and restaurants, as long as there are both, so we have a choice to be in a smoke free environment or not. Even with smoke purification systems in my local club, in the days of smoking, you and your clothes smelt like an ashtray the next day and ceilings and paintwork went yellow from the tar very quickly.
With e-cigs, it is an unregulated market with many having suspect and dangerous chemicals. The only reports on them being safe on the passive smoking front that I have seen, is reports from the e-cig manufacturers themselves. I will await to see independent long term reports on their safety.
Paints have had to be reformulated due to the dangers of VOCs, which damage your DNA, cause birth defects etc., what many people don't realise is that these compounds can be in air fresheners and scented candles.

Best not to talk about the safe level for microwave signals.
