Moved to Looe, Cornwall a couple of weeks ago and it has been hell.

I only got the Internet connected today after 3 attempts by Openreach to connect.

The house can only be described as a dirty hole. It's minging.

Everything needs doing - floors, ceilings, walls, doors, everything.

Saving grace it that Looe is beautiful.

Glad that you arrived safely, Kate. I'd gladly tolerate a shit-hole to live in Looe! All of your problems will be solved by the hundreds of Oofers queueing up to help you in exchange for a stay in Cornwall......

Today I've got to fit doors to the kitchen and living room and tile the bathroom. I've already fitted a new bath mixer tap - I just hope I've done it right and it doesn't leak.

Flooring needs to be fitted in every room and everywhere needs painting or wallpapering. I've fitted the living room carpet already and my housemate decorated so it looks nice.

The doors I've got to fit are those hollow ones but they are an inch too big so I'm hoping I can trim them down a bit. Just hope they don't fall apart on me.

The doors I've got to fit are those hollow ones but they are an inch too big so I'm hoping I can trim them down a bit. Just hope they don't fall apart on me.

Take it off both sides evenly .. the battening isn't much over an inch or two thick on those from memory..

or take it all off one side, and glue a new batten in.

Which reminds me I need to glue one of my doors back together! (1970s original, so it's lasted quite well )

I was watching one of those shopping channels and they had a spray gun to paint the whole room including the doors  Its a lot quicker but you need to be good at masking

Proper electric pump system , but they do make it look easy on the tv . He sprayed the ceiling and not one drop of spray on his head

Well I started planing the sides and after a couple of minutes the belt broke on the electric planer.
