I think they are dangerous. Even brighter than full beam in your face. That won't matter to the inconsiderate gits who use them though.

If factory fitted they have no choice in time they  will be standard fit again just like HIDs

They use a technology called CREE and aren't strictly LED's but are very bright indeed...

It might just be my tired old eyes, but they seem just too bright. If I get someone coming at me from the opposite direction I have to squint. Even led sidelights, full in your face, are very bright.

I can see mines dip slightly when a car comes towards you I would like to buy replacements as they are sealed units for the main and dipped beam

...... I say we should bring back the old 45w/35w sealed beam units that nearly killed us all in the sixties and seventies because they gave *uck all illumination.

The last on I bought for my 1972 Triumph 1500 cost £1.99.

With so many negative comments I'm surprised that LED's are legal.

This is an example of the technology out pacing the rules, LED is a very different light source, very 'point source' with hard cut off. When current rules were written they did not exist. One of the problems I see with them is that on a rough road surface the levelling systems simply can't keep up with movement and you end up with a flashing effect caused by the very hard edge.

LED daytime running lights, they clearly should have a light sensor to dim them when inevitably people drive around at dusk and dawn without switching their main lights on!

Lucas were years ahead of their time with that self dimming headlamp

CREE is a manufacturer, one of the things they manufacture is LED bulbs, using SMT

Had new Merc cls in for repair few weeks back and needed a new led headlamp, and got hold of old one to see how they work.
Very heavy compared to normal headlamps.
Each of the main leds had large ally heatsinks on the back, 2 electric fans for cooling, wiring everywhere and several control units.
Only a tad over £1200

BMW vid looks impressive but it doesn,t show the light pattern when you actually overtake someone, or did
i miss it.?
