Ouch.

That exact same thing happened to my brother-in-law a few years back. He bounced off a wall on the way down though, causing further injury. One side of the wall had a six foot drop and the other side had a ten foot drop. Guess which side he fell.  ::)

Magic self-righting tree ;D According to some friends of mine who do forestry work it happens more often than you'd think if you don't cut the trunk at the root first.. I think one said "been there, done that, got chinned" ;D

What an idiot!

I am in the process today of tri annual pruning my olive trees. Not quite as big as that tree but big enough to sometimes have to use a chain saw in the tree rather than a pole saw from the ground. You do a mental risk assessment on everything you saw.
