Water Ingress!
« on: 09 May 2014, 21:15:47 »

Hello fellow OOF'ers,
I have not been on this forum for more than 6 months after having my last contribution being deleted by a stazy type person on here.
However, my Omega has been sat here in Scotland for 6 months after me being working in Nigeria. I arrived back yesterday.
The front passengers footwell was very wet which has never happened before.
I have checked all the excellent fixes on here and everything seems ok.
Has anybody got any ideas on this??
PS: She started up first time after all these months.  :y :y Yea!

All clear! No leaves or crud in either side. As it is raining at the moment, I cannot see water coming in anywhere.  :-[

Have you looked right at the bottom of the pollen filter housing?  ;)

If you chuck a jug of water in, it should flow straight out instantly  :y

I wonder if the weight of the water build-up has already flushed it through, if its clear and no signs of anymore water getting in.

When I lived in a flat the toilet would block up on a regular basis but if the flush was pulled a second time to the brim, then after a short while the weight of the water would send the blockage on its way.  :y

Just a thought.

Dodgy door seal or possibly blocked drains in the dfoor itself, causing it to drain into the car :-\

That said, does it have a sunroof? If so the sunroof drains could be partially blocked... with tbe rain we've had over the last few months, it wouldn't take much to overflow...

Yes, it has a sun roof. I am running a hose taped to the roof as I type. Will report if I find anything. Thanks!

Well! I had the hose running most of the day yesterday covering sunroof, doors etc. I also had kitchen towels strategically placed under glove box and beside doors. Nada, zilch, nothing in the way of water coming in. I concur with AndyA in that the water may have emptied after I moved the car to clear the rust off the brake discs. I did not notice the water in the footwell until after driving (slowly) for a couple of miles. The first thing I looked at was the passenger side scuttle drain. A mystery. I will keep a lookout when it next rains, which up here in Scotland will be soon!  ;D

Nope  :y

If you poked a screw driver through that, the carpet in the cabin moved up   :o
