Did you remember to display the ticket and set the clock, though round here they do not worry about the time. :)

yes mike i did both, and i was well within the 3 hour limit.the only thing i can think off is that maybe you can only park at certain times of the day.i probably should have looked for a sign nearby with details on. :-/...edit,something about parking in an area where restrictions are in force. :-/

As long as you are not in a loading bay and there are no loading or unloading signs you should be fine. You can park on double yellow line, but you need to be sensible and not cause an obstruction, one of the things that people moan about, and rightly so. imho  :)
assuming you were parked OK I think you should challenge it, was it issued by the local council? or a private company, either way challenge.

Well worth checking the signage and road markings, if they are not exact the ticket is unenforceable. For example a lot of the double yellow lines around here are open ended with no end marking all of which are unenforceable .If that is the case appeal against the ticket

Does not matter, in the case, as long as there were no loading bay signs you were ok to park. :)

Don't forget though, you can only use it if he is with you, same with a car if you get a motability one, you can't use it to go to work etc. :)
